Your DBS will have to be re-checked every three years. It is really important that DBS checks are kept up to date in order that we can provide an environment for our girls and volunteers which is as safe as possible.
This checklist should be used when planning a conference, activity, training, or an event so that you can ensure that those with additional needs will feel comfortable to attend. It may not always be possible to put everything in place that is on the checklist due to the constraints of the venue, number of people attending, cost or type of event. Download the checklist.
Girlguiding South West England is committed to reimbursing reasonable travel and subsistence expenses incurred by volunteers, staff, and members while carrying out approved activities on behalf of the region. Girlguiding's Finance Policy requires that a checklist and confirmation form be completed annually to ensure that the independent review of your unit accounts has been carried out in line with Girlguiding's requirements.

Girlguiding's Keeping information safe e-learning should be completed by all members. It will help you understand data protection in the UK and how GDPR affects your role in Guiding.
All paperwork for an international trip must be signed off by the chief commissioner once it has been checked by the lead volunteer international. Local commissioners should not be signing off any international paperwork on GO.

Young people aged 16 - 18 no longer require recruitment checks even when attending residential events. However, current legislation means it is essential that they are supervised at all times irrespective of whether it is a local meeting or a residential event. Recruitment checks must be carried out if a young person turns 18 prior to attending a residential event.
