My guiding journey started as a Brownie and took me on to university where I qualified as a guide leader. Guiding has always been there for me as I moved around for work, being an instant way to meet like-minded people and become involved in the local community. About ten years ago I made the transition from Guides to Rainbows, which was a good lifestyle choice as we meet once a month for 3 hours on a Saturday morning. I have been fortunate to hold a number of commissioner roles which have given me some of the experience needed for my current role.

As lead volunteer for complaints and compliance concerns, I am involved in:

  • Managing the progress of region complaints cases that have reached Girlguiding
  • Supporting county/island commissioners with cases and reports, including doing some investigations as do our two other region investigators
  • Preparing a report for the compliance committee, summarising complaints within a quarter and drawing out learning points for the region to consider
