Girlguiding Isle of Wight invited some special guests along to help them celebrate World Thinking Day this year.  The Island's Lord Lieutenant, Susie Sheldon JP, the Island's High Sheriff, Geoff Underwood, and the Chairman of the Council for the Isle of Wight, Cllr George Cameron.

Many congratulations to Tamsen Wetherall on receiving the British Empire Medal in the New Year's Honours 'For services to Charitable Fundraising and to Girlguiding in Bridgewater'.

Tamsen is a Leader with 7th Bridgewater St Johns Brownies in Somerset and is also a District Commissioner.  She has written a lovely story about her life in Guiding and all the excitement surrounding the announcement of the news - click here.

Many thanks to Kara-Jane Senior, a Leader with 8th Swindon Guides & Rangers from Wiltshire North, who has written in to tell us about her participation in the Girlguiding fundraising challenge to Peru in October of last year which she describes 'the adventure of a lifetime'.

The 12 volunteers walked 26 miles through the Andes along the famous Inca Trail to Machu Picchu, and as part of the challenge raised over £46,000 - click here to find out how the money will be used and to read more about Kara-Jane's 'Inca-redible Adventure'!
