Sponsorship and Partners

Girlguiding in South West England can provide excellent opportunities for companies and organisations to support girls and young women in the 21st Century. We look for partnerships that will enhance the experience of our Members though innovative programmes, exciting events and exceptional resources. By working in partnership with us, your company will gain access to our audience, which includes both girl members and adult volunteers and by partnering a leading national youth organisation you could improve brand recognition. We aim to satisfy the objectives of both partners and look to build on-going relationships with the companies and organisations we work with.

For more information on working with Girlguiding South West England, please contact Jenni Freeth - jenni@ggswe.org.uk .

News From Cotswold Outdoor

CotswoldsIf you have never stepped into one of the Cotswold Outdoor stores, you are missing a treat! They stock a great range of walking, climbing and camping equipment, clothing and footwear and their friendly staff are available to offer free and impartial advice on gearing up for the great outdoors. Not only will they fit and adjust your rucksack for you to ensure it sits comfortably and the weight is dispersed evenly, but their trained staff can also provide a full boot fitting service where your feet will be properly measured (remember those days as a child in Clarks?), select the best boot for your needs and make adjustments so you have maximum comfort and support. Cotswold's staff will also explain how to look after your kit properly to make sure it continues to give the service you expect for many years. As a result of Girlguiding's partnership with the retailer, Members receive a discount at any Cotswold Outdoor store, online or over the 'phone (20% for adult Members for personal use, 15% for young Members and bulk purchases by Leaders for their girls - you will need your Girlguiding Membership card). Cotswold Outdoor also offer their stores for meetings or training events and will attend and promote Guiding recruitment events. They are very happy to visit Unit meetings, free of charge, to give kit talks or camping demonstrations and to give advice on the benefits of layering and how different fabrics work - a brilliant idea before your next camp or walking training. The Cotswold Outdoor store in Bath also hosts a Nomad health centre where specialist nurses and trained staff are on hand to provide you with up to the minute advice on travel health issues and might be able to offer training sessions for international trips.

Every Little Helps!

Tesco logoGirlguiding's partnership with Tesco also offers benefits to Unit Leaders. For example, the Salisbury store has a "Community Space" which is available for groups and organisations to hire free of charge. The room is fully furnished and Tesco provide free tea and coffee making facilities. You may find that your local Tesco can offer something similar which could be useful if your usual meeting place becomes unavailable for some reason.

Tesco's Bags of Help grant scheme is using the money raised from the 5p bag levy to fund thousands of community projects across the UK. The projects must meet the criteria of promoting community participation in the development and use of outdoor space, but applications will be accepted for training, the physical improvement of open spaces, equipment purchases, community events and sports and leisure activities, as well as setting up or supporting a gardening or nature based project. Each month three local community projects will be voted on in each of the 200 Tesco regions. The project which receives the most votes in stores in their region will receive a grant of up to £5,000, the second up to £2,000 and the third will receive up to £1,000 in funding.

And remember to make use of the Tesco Eat Happy Project which helps Rainbows and Brownies learn about healthy eating and where their food comes from. Why not pop along to your local Tesco store and find out more?
