Region Roadshows 2012
There are just a few places left for the midday session at Cornwall's Crealy Great Adventure Park on Saturday 14th April.
The 2012 Roadshows are aimed at girl members in our Region and their parents/carers, and we would like to extend an invitation to the girls to bring along a friend who is not currently a member of Girlguiding. The Roadshows include breakfast or brunch, a short presentation by the Chief Commissioner and an introductory talk by someone from the venue. Members and their guests are then be free to enjoy the amenities on offer.
Places at the Roadshows are limited and will be allocated on a first come, first served basis so if you want to be sure of attending, you will need to book now!

All the World’s a Stage – Region Thinking Day Event, 2012
Our Region Thinking Day Event on Saturday 25th February is now full and it's going to be an amazing day. We already have a waiting list so please do not send any more booking forms in as we are unable to increase the number of places which were originally allocated.

Training for New Tutors
Want to find out more about Tutoring? Girlguiding UK have arranged two training weekends for new and returning Tutors. The first will be held in London on 24th/25th March and the other in Birmingham on 29th/30th September. There is no charge for the weekend, but you will be required to pay a deposit of £25.00 when booking which will be returned to you upon attendance.

Introduction to Training Weekends
If you are an Adviser, Leader or Commissioner with a role which has a guiding element, or if you have an interest in training others, you may find one of Girlguiding UK's Introduction to Training weekends useful. The first is being held at Netherurd House, Scotland on 27th/29th April and the second at Hautbois, Anglia on 5th/7th October. There is a charge of £30.00 to cover all food and accommodation and places are limited and will be allocated on a first come, first served basis.

BIG GIG 2012
The first of this year's two BIG GIGs takes place on Saturday 31st March at the Birmingham NEC Complex with an afternoon performance at 2.00 pm and an evening performance at 7.15 pm. Olly Murs and Helen Skelton will be appearing, and other acts will be confirmed over the next month. There are a limited number of tickets available which cost £25.00 each and will be allocated on a first come, first served basis.

Walking Weekends
Level 1 Walking Training Course:

Level 1 Walking Weekend: 15th - 17th June 2012, Sandy Acres Campsite, Near Wickham, Hampshire

- Improve your map reading skills and gain the confidence to take your girls out walking, either locally or whilst away on camp or holiday?

- Find out more about the Girlguiding UK Walking Scheme?
- Work towards gaining a Level 1 Walking Qualification?
- Complete a logbook walk towards your Level 1 Walking Qualification?
- Enjoy a walk for pleasure in the Meon Valley?
If the answer to any of the above is "yes", then come and join us for the Level 1 Walking Weekend in the delightful Hampshire countryside. The weekend is open to Adult and Senior Section Members over 18.

Level 2
Walking Scheme Training & Assessment Courses and Leisure Walking Weekend:

Would you like to:
- Extend your existing walking skills, learn how to lead groups safely in open country and work towards gaining a Girlguiding Walking Qualification?
- Gain more navigation training and practice in readiness for your Queen's Guide or Gold Duke of Edinburgh Award walking expedition?
- Be assessed for your Level 2 Walking Qualification (having already completed your training)?
The Level 2 Walking Scheme Training and Assessment Courses are open to adult and Senior Section Members over 18. If you fancy something a little more informal, then join us for leisure walking on Dartmoor and enjoy some beautiful countryside in the company of like-minded people.
If you are not sure which weekend is right for you, speak to your County Walking Adviser who will be able to help you. Alternatively, feel free to contact the Region Walking Adviser via the Girlguiding South West England Region Office.

Level 3 Informal Walking Weekend: 23rd - 25th November, Brecon Beacons National Park
Would you like to:- Extend your existing Level 2 walking skills and gain experience of walking in Level 3 country with support from other experienced walkers?
- Complete a logbook walk towards your Level 2 or Level 3 Walking Qualification?
- Enjoy a walk for pleasure in the Black Mountain area of the Brecon Beacons National Park?
- Find out more about the Girlguiding UK Walking Scheme and share information and experience with other Leaders?
This is an informal Walking Weekend, but you will have the opportunity to benefit from the knowledge and experience of Region Walking Trainers. Open to adult and Senior Section members over 18 with existing Level 2 standard walking experience. The cost is £10 which covers basic indoor accommodation only, you will need to bring your own bedding for sleeping on the floor and pay for your own food and travel.

Narrowboating
How about taking your Brownies, Guides or Senior Section on a boat trip. Bookings are now being taken for day trips, sleepovers or weekends in 2012. Or you could book the one-to-one training weekends and gain your Girlguiding Power Cruising Certificate.
