One World One Beat.

Over the weekend of the 20th and 21st of February, 2000 girls from across the region gathered in Salisbury to take part in One World One Beat and celebrate World Thinking Day.

They all completed a series of fun, energetic and educational workshops based around the theme of world music, drama and dance. They got the chance to try things they had never done before such as Cheerleading, Afro Carnival Dancing, African Drumming, and even Street Dancing to name a few.

On Saturday the event got off to a brilliant start with the girls and workshop providers putting mountains of energy and enthusiasm into all their activities. ITV news turned up to get all the action which was shown on TV later that day.

As the workshops continued the girls were able to watch live broadcasts from across the UK as all the regions celebrated World Thinking Day together.

The day reached a climax in the grand finale extravaganza where the girls showcased all that they had learnt to one another. This was a bright and lively display taking place on a big theatre stage with lights, pyrotechnics and all the trimmings. Everyone was able to get involved, singing along with those on stage and waving their glow sticks in time with the music.

As Sunday began the volunteers that worked so hard to put this together prepared for another wave of energetic and excited girls to enter Salisbury. They didn’t disappoint and it proved to be another fantastic day which everyone enjoyed.

Once again the finale was amazing - the perfect way to end such an inspirational and exciting weekend.

Thank you again for everyone that made One World One Beat such a success. To the girls who took part, the workshop providers who taught us so much, and most of all the volunteers who gave their all.
